I am inspired to share with you the healing benefits of food for those who ‘suffer’ Anxiety + Depression. Often food is forgotten about when we are in survival mode and yet it is vital that what you are putting into your mouth will nourish your body systems + is filled with life-force, superfoods, minerals, vitamins, trace elements, oxygen, enzymes + hormones.I find it rare to see someone who has Anxiety or Depression and has a strong digestive, nervous + immune system and a diet that is healthy + pleasurable will lighten + brighten you from the inside out!
Here are my thoughts:
Begin to reduce or eliminate a few of the ‘easy ones’ from the list below and notice how you feel; you will go through a slight detox but once this has cleared go back to the list and eliminate a few more. Generally the one you are resisting the most or can’t do without; will be the one you DO need to eliminate.
Be kind + gentle with self and on the days you slip – it’s OK ….just go light + clean with your food the next day!
Meat, dairy, white anything, sugar, yeast, wheat based cereals, gluten, MSG, canned, packaged + processed foods, table salt + stimulants.
Now to aid digestion, elimination + absorption you need to be Increasingchlorophyll rich foods to oxygenate the blood, alkalizing foods to restore your PH balance (healthy PH is 30% acid – 70% alkaline + if you have anxiety or depression you will probably be too acidic ~ which ain’t helping a thing!)
A lifeless diet = a sluggish colon and that means the fats you ingest will go rancid, carbs will ferment + proteins will putrefy! YUK! Your want this stuff to be moving through your body quickly! Don’t think for a moment that this won’t be affecting the state of your mind because everything is related/connected!
You need to have 1 – 3 bowel movements a day (without the need to drink coffee + if you do need a coffee to do de business ~ then you have a problem)!
You want to let go of your @#&*!@#%$^ because hanging onto your %*(*^$#$ is not working out for you ~ is it?
When Anxiety, Depression + Candida hang out together = lethargy, bloating, bowel + fertility issues, asthma, migraines, cravings, foggy brain, mood swings, sinus, PMS, low sex drive, muscle weakness, irritability, thrush, chronic fatigue, leaky gut, fibromylgia, digestive + menopausal issues.
There are a lot more on this list but this is what will resonate with those who read this post….… I believe our major health issues of today could well be candida related!
Candida is NASTY + requires a commitment to cleaning up your diet BUT you may find it will improve your overall health + this will inspire you to continue. The energy of Candida is like a dark dripping moldy cave + it needs sunlight + warmth ~ so be in sunlight without sunglasses on, visualize sunlight + add a sunfood living diet.
Go on a technology fast for 1 – 2 days a week because if what you are watching, listening, reading or plugged into is not nourishing you ~ then fast from it! This goes for anything or anyone too!
By eating intuitively you will be more connected to what your body needs. If anxiety + depression is wearing you down then a 100% plant based sunfood diet with organic fruits, veg, grains, sprouts, beans, nuts + seeds would be great but if you are healthy but endure mild bouts then enjoy a balance a 75% raw ~ 25% cooked or whatever works for you…
The following is an intuitive list for those who are reading this post. This is about what to ADD to your diet…..
Allow Fresh VEG to be the majority of what you eat ~ but add more..…..Bok Choy, garlic, lettuce, spinach, watercress, sprouts, chickpeas, lentils, onion, beets, carrots, daikon radish, ginger, leeks, sweet potato, kelp, broccoli, cauliflower, celery, cucumbers, green beans, peas, squashes, zucchini, basil, cilantro, dill, parsley + tarragon…
Fruits ~ more than 15% from fruit ~ but add more……..Apples, cherries, lemons, watermelon, berries
10% from seeds, legumes, whole grains + nuts ~ but add more…….white beans, pecans, walnuts, quinoa, rye + spelt.
Enjoy…..Vanilla beans, mineral salt, vitamineral green, coconut water + RAW chocolate (not if Candida is present) ~ it is not about depriving yourself!
Add more Alkaline foods to your diet if you are feeling burnt out, exhausted, quick to anger. Restore your PH balance by adding lemons, watermelon, passionfruit, apple cider vinegar, baking soda, sea salt + mineral water.
As you detox you may experience cravings, headaches, irritability, insomnia, coated tongue, fatigue, bad breath, nightmares + loss of appetite. This will let you know how toxic you are + what organs are detoxing. This is why it’s good to go slow….
Wise Woman Wisdom…. I always include WWW into everything I do…. and the healing power of freshly baked bread restores the soul + all that kneading + punching the dough helps too!
Irish descendants could add some steamed or baked spuds into their diet whilst Italians could add homemade pasta + growing their own vegies +herbs.. I believe everyone needs a little of their own heritage in their diets.
Begin your day with water, lemon + cayenne pepper to open up the circulatory system + restore PH levels.
Go on a juice + water fast one day a week to clean the system up + the next day enjoy juices, salads + veg soup.
By cleaning up your diet you will help shift layers of emotional, physical + mental toxicity which will help you to feel lighter + brighter.
You have nothing to loose in trying this but everything to gain! It is empowering +inspiring to take your health into your own two hands.
